Only one match remains in the District 7-3A tennis tournament, and it's between the two competitors who know each other best.

Brothers Ryan and Reagan Drake are competing for the final spot in the 3A Region I Tournament out of 7-3A.

Ryan Drake went through three rounds of the boys singles bracket unscathed then dropped the championship match. Reagan won two matches before falling in the semifinal. He won the third-place match, earning the playoff with his brother.

District officials have agreed to allow the brothers to settle the matter in Stephenville, though head coach Fran Metzger had not determined the time or date as of Thursday evening. The match must be completed by Monday to comply with UIL scheduling.

Stephenville's Chawtana Edwards and Rachel Hazzard each reached the third-place match in girls singles, setting up another all-SHS showdown. Hazzard took the opening set before Edwards came from behind to claim third.

Four doubles squads from SHS won opening-round matches before being eliminated in round two.

The pairing of Lucas Cain and Garrett Bratton were 1-1 in boys doubles. In mixed doubles, the grouping of Hayden Bernays and McKenzie Ford as well as Will Holland and Juana Sandoval each split two battles.

Ryan Price and Rhett Edwards were also in boys doubles, dropping their opening match.

The tournament, hosted by Alvarado High School, was delayed more than three hours by rain Wednesday, and the remaining matches - with the exception of the Drakes' pending battle - were completed Thursday.

The Region I Tournament is April 16-17 at Texas Tech's McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock.
