Cameron edged Tarleton State 5-4 in the TexAnns' Lone Stat Conference tennis opener at Streich-Henry Family Tennis Complex in Lawton, Okla. Tuesday.

The TexAnns (11-3) were 3-3 in singles matches but Cameron (12-2) two of three doubles battles to end Tarleton's seven-match win streak.

Tarleton's Alicia Perez won the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-3 over Angie Torres, and Melanie Barnes gave the TexAnns another point in the No. 3 match, defeating Samantha Wood 7-6 (4-0), 1-6, 6-3. Tarleton's Marina Rull beat Magdalena Kovinic 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 5 match.

Cameron won the No. 2, 4 and 6 singles matches with P. Gutierrez-Casas defeating Ivana Zecevic 6-1, 6-1, Florencia Tornero beating Luiza Adas 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 and Antonia Moberg edging Silvia Nieva 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Tarleton's only doubles winner was the pairing of Nieva and Barnes. They doubled up Kovinic and Moberg, 8-4. Cameron's Gutierrez-Casas and Tornero clipped Zecevic and Ada 8-6, while Torres and Wood edged Perez and Mackenzie Mitchell 8-6.

Tarleton is idle until hosting Midwestern State for Lone Star play on April 8 at Potishman-Lard Tennis Courts.
