A man accused of stabbing his girlfriend in De Leon Monday night was arrested in Erath County after fleeing the scene.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Monday, Dublin police were notified that a suspect was evading De Leon police and Comanche County Sheriff's deputies in a motor vehicle and was believed to be headed to Erath County.

De Leon police were able to provide officers with a vehicle description and basic description of the suspect, but not much else.

About an hour later, deputies made contact with a vehicle matching the description near the Mesquite Apartments in Dublin.

When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect, identified as Ernan Martinez, 35, ran inside one of the apartments. Dublin Police Chief Shawn Fullagar said officers communicated with the suspect and got him to come outside where he was arrested.

Martinez was taken into custody and transported to Erath County Jail where he was charged with evading arrest or detention and criminal attempted murder. He is awaiting transport back to Comanche County.

The suspect's girlfriend was taken to Comanche County Medical Center where she is reportedly in stable condition.
