Stephenville players combined to win eight of 21 matches against opponents from a field comprised mostly of larger schools in Aledo last Friday.

It was the final pre-district tuneup for Stephenville, which competes in the District 7-3A meet Wednesday at Alvarado. Matches begin at 9 a.m.

Ryan Drake won his opening round boys 'A' singles match 8-3 over a foe from Burleson. He was then eliminated 8-1 by a top-ranked opponent from Fort Worth Country Day. Brother Reagan Drake was in boys 'B' singles action, defeating a Burkburnett player 8-1 and a foe from Mesquite Poteet 9-7 before falling to a Fort Worth Paschall opponent 3-6, 6-4, 6-10.

In girls singles, Rachel Hazzard was Stephenville's 'A' player. She lost to Cleburne 8-4, defeated Peaster 8-0 and fell to Burkburnett 8-3. Chawtana Edwards was the Honeybees' 'B' player in singles, winning one of three matches.

In 'A' mixed doubles, Mackenzie Ford and Hunter Bernays of Stephenville lost to Burleson 8-3, defeated Fort Worth Southwest in a tiebreaker 9-8 and were swept by Burleson Centennial 8-0.

In girls 'A' doubles, Lindsey Minnix and Terrin Thompson lost to Aledo 8-0, had a second round bye and were edged out by Peaster 8-6.

Boys 'A' doubles players Lucas Cain and Garrett Bratton were defeated by Kennedale 8-5 and North Crowley 8-0. In boys 'B' doubles action, Ryan Price and Rhett Edwards lost 8-5 to Cleburne, dominated Peaster 8-2 and fell to Fort Worth Paschall 8-2.
