The Disabled American Veterans of Erath County will host a post traumatic stress disorder support group next month to continue supporting local veterans.

The support group was originally hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9181, however, that post was closed in May 2013 leaving the group in limbo.

"People would stop by asking when and where another group would meet every week," said Veronica Woodward, a representative of the DAV. "We called and worked with Tarleton, knowing they also needed a group, and we teamed up with the Veteran's Center in Arlington to get a licensed counselor to attend the meetings as well."

According to Woodward, having the counselor come to Stephenville will prevent veterans from having to travel to Waco, Fort Worth or Brownwood for counseling.

All veterans are welcome to attend the group regardless of location.

"Any veteran that feels the need to come is welcome to attend," Woodward said. "We've provided a place to meet with a hope that the veterans will start coming back."

The group will meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 7, at the DAV office, located at 408 East Road.
