LIPAN- Funeral services for Ltc. John Paul Ford, 79, who went to be with the Lord will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lipan Church of Christ. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan. Visitation will be held today from 6-8 p.m. at Wiley Chapel in Lipan.

John was born in Lipan to Jack and Leona Madge Stacy Ford. He married Mary Daphne Darby March 13, 2010 in Dallas. John was a military man who served in the Army for his country he was a political activist who volunteered for many positions in the Republican Party and he was a strong Christian who taught Sunday School at Rocky Point Baptist Church. John was an educated man who received two Masters Degrees from Tarleton and from Texas Tech and he was the author of several engineering textbooks.

He died from a weak heart from a leg amputation last Dec.

John is survived by his wife Mary Daphne, his sister Beauton Tipton and husband Vern, his three nieces, Judy Walker, Jane York and Joyce Tipton, several cousins and several second nieces and nephews.
