The STAR Council on Substance Abuse is known for promoting a healthy lifestyle and this weekend it will host its Hang Tuff, Don't Puff 5K.
The organization is joining forces with National Kick Butts Day to take a stand against tobacco.
"We want people to know that we're here and what we stand for," said STAR Council prevention specialist Kellie Ulbricht.
The funds raised will help STAR Council host events like summer camps for local youth.
"We're funded through the Department of State Services and the United Way and those funds can only be used in certain areas," Ulbricht said. "The 5K will help raise money so that we can continue to keep putting on the fun events that we do every year."
Along with the 5K, a silent auction will also be available to those in attendance.
Items up for auction include certificates for hotel stays, gym memberships, a Mary Kay gift bag, jewelry and many other items.
"We want people to come and ask us about what we do and we want to share what we're doing in the community. Overall we plan to have a great day outside," Ulbricht said.
The 5K will take place at Stephenville City Park along the Bosque River Trail.
You can register online at www.racedayeventservices.com or before the race on Saturday, which begins at 9 a.m.
