There were no big surprises in the race for the Stephenville ISD board of trustees Wednesday, the first day to file for a place on the May ballot.

As expected, Doug McLemore, Place 7, filed for re-election.

"It has been a privilege to serve the students and teachers of Stephenville for the last six years," McLemore said Wednesday. "We have accomplished quite a bit during that time, from the development of the strategic plan to the construction of our new buildings. I'm running for re-election because I don't think we're finished."

Longtime trustee Ora Lee Leeth, Place 6, has said she will not run for another term.

And just as he promised, Cole Gilliam Parks, filed Wednesday for Place 6.

"As a graduate of Stephenville High School, the father of a future Yellow Jacket and Honeybee and the son of an educator, this is something that lines up with the core values of who I am and the passions that are currently in my life," Parks said last week when he announced his candidacy.

Applications to run for a place on the school board is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.
