It was a tragic end to 2013 when a young Dublin woman was killed in a car accident Monday morning.
The accident occurred just after 6:30 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 377 when a 2004 red Chevy Cavalier driven by Brenda Mejia ran into the back of an 18-wheeler driven by Efrain Martinez.
Mejia, 22, of Dublin, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bart Greenway.
According to DPS spokesman Dub Gillum, the 18-wheeler was heading south on Hwy. 377 and slowed down to turn onto C.R. 378 when Mejia ran into the back of it.
Mejia was reportedly a graduate of Dublin High School and worked at Sonic.
Her body was taken to Harrell Funeral Home in Dublin.
The crash was investigated by Trooper B.J. Hill.
On her Facebook page, Mejia had posted, "Always pray to have eyes that see the best, a heart that forgives the worst, and a soul that never loses faith."
