STEPHENVILLE – A memorial service for Polly (Beverly Jean) Bradley, 82, a retired teacher, was held Saturday at Hillcrest Church of Christ with David Harris officiating. Arrangements were by Lacy Funeral Home.
Polly was born in Mountainair, New Mexico to Joe Carroll and Gladys (Griffin) Ford. She married William Robert (Bob) Bradley on May 28, 1950 in El Paso.
Polly attended Texas Western College. She taught English in various high schools in the Ysleta and Clint school districts for 20 years. She retired with Bob in 1986, and they moved to Comanche to be near children and grandchildren. They lived there 19 years, moving to Stephenville in 2005. Her adult life was spent teaching 5th grade Bible class weekly at the North Loop Church of Christ in El Paso and the Pearl Street Church of Christ in Comanche. In retirement, she traveled and quilted, making quilts for each child and each granddaughter. She also enjoyed many trips with Church of Christ Sojourners and volunteering at children’s homes and church camps.
Polly was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Bradley of Stephenville; children, Carol Cawyer and husband, Fred, of Rowlett, John Bradley and wife, Tenzy, of Austin, and Colleen Hess of Houston; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to Cherokee Home for Children, P.O. Box 295, Cherokee, Texas 76832-9989.
