Class 5A Cedar Hill built an 18-point lead and held off Stephenville's girls 50-38 at Legacy High School on opening day at the Mansfield Rotary Invitational Thursday.

The Honeybees return to Legacy at 9:45 a.m. today for what turns out to be a true road game against 5A Legacy, which dropped its opener to Round Rock Stony Point. If the Bees win, they move to Lake Ridge High School for a game 8:15 p.m. today. If they lose, they play at 3 p.m. at Legacy. The opponent for either of those games is yet to be determined.

The Bees cut their large deficit to seven points, but three consecutive turnovers followed as Cedar Hill moved right back out of reach.

Breanna Wooley came off the bench to lead Stephenville with 11 points, while sophomore post Kourtney Seaton scored eight. Chrislyn Wells added five, Lyndi Graham four, Cassidy Cline three, Bethanie Bouchey three, Tiara Green two and Lariat Larner two.

Stephenville is one of only two Texas 3A schools in the tournament, the other being 2013 state finalist Kennedale. The rest of the 32-team field is from 4A, 5A or another state.
