STEPHENVILLE - Services for Ora Irene Fincher, 86, were held at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel on Dec. 23, 2013. She was laid to rest at Johnson Cemetery in Erath County.

Irene was born in Anson to Jesse Ballard and Ella Mize and married Oscar Fincher on Dec. 26, 1946. They enjoyed over 61 years of marriage before his passing on Dec. 31, 2007. She is affectionately known as “Granny Irene” to many beloved family members and a host of friends.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Davidson of Stephenville, daughter Darleen Hearne and husband Ronnie of Stephenville and son Tommy Fincher and wife, Kim of Garner. Irene was blessed with 16 grandchildren including Tyge Floyd of Fort Worth, Todd Floyd and wife, Lisa, of Rogers, Ark., Keith Floyd and wife, Jana¸ of Stephenville, Deitra Stroebel and husband Loren of Stephenville, Lynn Davidson of Joshua, Kevin Hearne and wife, April, of Cisco, Autumn and Hunter, Fincher of Garner, TX; as well as 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece whom she loved as a sister, Lorene Ham of Albuquerque, NM, sister-in-law, Margie Dillon of Martin, TN, and brother-in-law, Raymond Todd of New Iberia, LA.

Irene and Oscar began their life together in Stephenville and later moved to Millsap. It was at Millsap Elementary that Irene worked for 15 years as a teacher’s aide. They moved back to Stephenville in 1983 to take care of Oscar’s parents and she helped Oscar with his business venture, Oscar’s Bait Farm. She was an avid bowler and competed in bowling leagues for over 20 years in both Mineral Wells and Stephenville. Irene was a passionate lover of animals. She will dearly missed by family, friends and her pets.
