Former Stephenville all-state catcher Tyler Jones has been named to the President's List at Texas Tech.
A sophomore catcher and sports management major, Floyd posted a perfect 4.0 grade-point average to earn the honor. The son of Stephenville Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd and Huckabay Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Floyd, Tyler graduated from SHS in 2012.
Tyler began his college career at McLennan Community College in Waco, then transferred to Texas Tech. He was one of nine Red Raider baseball players to earn academic honors, according to an article published Tuesday on the university's official athletics website.
Floyd helped the Yellow Jackets to an area championship and on to the regional quarterfinals in 2012. They lost a three-game series to eventual state finalist Cleburne.
