The Stephenville Public Library is hosting an event tonight that is sure to get your family in the Christmas spirit.

The free event will begin at 6 p.m. with a reading of Polar Express written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg. And at 6:30, the movie will be shown in the children's library.

"This is our third annual Polar Express and something we look forward to every year," said Director Mary Meredith. "It's a wonderful event the whole family can enjoy."

The Polar Express story is set on Christmas Eve and follows the travels of a doubting boy who boards a magical train that's headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus' home.

Meredith said to come dressed in pajamas or sweats - "anything comfy" - and bring a pillow and blanket.

During the movie attendees will enjoy plenty of snacks including popcorn, candy and hot chocolate.

For those who can't make tonight's event, there will be an encore performance at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The library is located at 174 N. Columbia Street.
