Huckabay's boys started their season with a murderer's row type of schedule.

The Indians have faced 2A power Peaster, 1A Division I No. 5 Poolville and other powers, and did it after losing 2012-13 TABC 1A Division II newcomer of the year James Weiss to injuries suffered during a preseason scrimmage.

But 11 games into the season, Huckabay is 6-5, and because of the respect for their schedule, the Indians remain in the top 10.

No. 8 Huckabay showed off its balance in its latest win, with three scorers pouring in at least 15 points and two others netting at least six in a 68-43 thumping of Zephyr.

Cade Bray scored 19 points, Gavin Fuentes 17 and Junior Fragoza 15. Garrett Stewart netted eight, Levi Dowell six and Eduardo Sanchez three.

The Lady Indians fell to 1-11 with a 37-14 loss to Zephyr, also Tuesday. Taylor Lowe scored six, Narda Fragoza five, Emily Altebaumer two and Erin Baker one.

Huckabay is idle until after Christmas. Both teams will be in tourament play in Meridian Dec. 27-28.
