The Stephenville ISD school board will meet Monday after an abnormal two weeks of school due to inclement weather and driving conditions.

One of the big items on the agenda includes the approval of the attendance waiver request for Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The school district must apply for the waiver due to the district being closed for more than its two designated bad weather days that were provided in the 2013-14 schedule.

SISD must apply for the waiver with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for it to be accepted. If the TEA finds that the campus was indeed closed due to inclement weather on the third day then the district could possibly not have to make up the third missed day of instruction.

SISD Superintendant Dr. Darrell Floyd said the TEA has been historically good at approving the waivers and that an answer isn't expected until April.

The missed instruction day was not the only issue caused by the weather, hourly paid employees were also affected.

District employees missed one day of work due to unusual circumstances beyond their control, which affected hourly employees in a way that salaried and contracted employees are not.

Therefore the board will vote to approve or deny the payment of wages without the individuals having to make up the missed work hours.

Also on the agenda for Monday night, the board will recognize the Stephenville High School FFA champions, 2013 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award winner Casey Weil and the National Art Winner. Also, Hook Elementary's Texas Top 30 Hoops for Heart, Tyler Kelsey and Theresa Hutchins and the Henderson Junior High Middle School Region Band will be recognized.

The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the administration building.
