Stephenville picked up its first two wins of the season Thursday and Saturday, and it was enough to land the Yellow Jackets in third place in Glen Rose's tournament.

Stephenville opened with a 62-49 victory over West and concluded its run with a 62-55 win against Fort Worth Christian. In between came a 70-30 loss to Brock, which reached the 2A state final last season and lost to Kennedale in the tourney final Saturday night.

The Yellow Jackets were clinging to a 44-40 lead over FW Christian entering the fourth, when Banndon Bledsoe scored eight of his 15, including knocking down four of five free throws.

The Jackets scored 38 after halftime, when Bledsoe had 12 and Garrett Cole netted 10 of his 12 total points. Tyler Griffin scored 10, with seven of his coming after the break.

Other scorers for Stephenville were Colby Brandon with nine, Malcolm Jimenez eight, Sam Weber four and Will Holland four.

The Jackets scored more points in three quarters - 50 - than West did in all four in the opening round Thursday.

Brandon netted 16 in that win, while Griffin scored 11 and Bledsoe 10. Josh Nowell added eight and Holland five while Jimenez, Cole and Weber contributed four each.

The Jackets will receive an influx of experienced varsity players now that their football season is over. They are idle Tuesday and visit Kennedale at 7 p.m. Friday. Sub-varsity play starts at 4 p.m.
