When Silvia Fuentes says she likes to work with computers, it's not all fun and games. The 18-year-old senior at Stephenville High School said she plans on studying marketing and computer science at the University of Texas in Arlington after graduation. Fuentes is the daughter of Irma and Francisco Fuentes and said when she isn't busy with yearbook, homework and teaching Bible classes at her church on Wednesdays, she likes to hang out with friends and family.
1. What is your best memory in your past four years?
Last summer I went to a computer science camp at UT Arlington and it was so much fun and I learned so much. I think those are probably some of my best memories.
2. What advice would you give to next year's freshmen?
I'd tell them not to be dramatic and to stay focused because even your freshman year counts and your actions will follow you through life, but the drama, it doesn't last.
3. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully in 10 years I will be working for a big tech company in California. After graduation I want to start off in Austin, then move up to a company in California.
4. Who is your biggest influence?
Probably my older sister Brenda. She was the first person in our family to graduate and now she's successful. Plus she sets a great example for how I want to live my life.
5. What do you think is your biggest impact on the world around you?
I think it's probably the way I approach the world and the people in it. Like my attitude towards others and the way I treat people. I try to make my biggest impact, showing kindness to those I encounter along my path.
