As the remnants of the ice from last weekend's winter storm melts away, Stephenville High School's basketball teams prepare to heat it up on the hardwood.

The Honeybees and Yellow Jackets are each in tournament play this weekend, the girls in Granbury and the guys in Glen Rose beginning today. Each event continues through Saturday.

The Bees were in Glen Rose last week, splitting two games on Thursday before the rest of the event was cancelled due to the inclement weather. The Jackets dropped their only tourney game in Lake Worth the same day, and the final two days of that event were also scratched.

The boys also cancelled Tuesday's trip to Graham after a third straight school day was called off. The girls were idle Tuesday.

Gandy Gym at SHS will host only one more varsity contest before the calendar flips to 2014. The Honeybees host Brownwood on Dec. 31 with sub-varsity teams starting at 2 p.m. and the varsity game to tip off at about 3:30.

The Yellow Jackets won't play at home until Jan. 7 when Waco La Vega visits at about 6:30 p.m. following 5 p.m. sub-varsity games.
