With the deadline to file over, residents will have three county races on the Republican Party Primary ballot to consider.
Dr. Marcy Tanter, chair of the Erath County Democratic Party, said no candidates applied to run as a Democrat.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Scot Jackson will face a challenge from Billy Van Diest and Shane Stegall, while Precinct 2 Commissioner Herbert Brown will face a challenge from Albert Ray.
Another race to watch will be the one for County Court at Law judge when incumbent Bart McDougal is challenged by local attorney Blake Thompson.
Both Justice of the Peace officers – Shawnee Bass (JP1) and Bart Greenway (JP2); Jason Cashon (District Judge); Tab Thompson (County Judge); Wanda Pringle (District Clerk), Gwinda Jones (County Clerk) and Donna Kelly (County Treasurer) will face no challenge in their bid for re-election.
The Republican Primary will be held on Tuesday, March 4.
