Erath County commissioners braved the cold Monday to meet for their regular meeting. The court approved accepting the matching funds grant from the state for the fire department.

According to Chris Brooks, Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue Coordinator, the $18,000 grant is for the purchase of rescue items like thermal imaging cameras and scuba and rescue equipment. The county put up the funds for the purchase and will receive 75 percent of it back.

"The grant is a 75/25 match grant, meaning if I spend $18,750, the county will get $15,000 back," Brooks said.

In other business, the county discussed bids for vending machines in county offices and approved BJ Vending (the company who purchased the company who earned the bid last year) and a lease for a copier for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, offices.
