STEPHENVILLE- Memorial services for Lois Mildred (Merritt) Odell, 92, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Curt Norman officiating. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

Lois was born in Temple to Warren F. & Mildred Caroline (Hay) Merritt. She married Jack Morris Odell on June 20, 1942, in Seattle, Wash. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2013. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Lois was a kind and gentle person who spent herself for others – small of stature but great of heart – and a quiet, steady center for her family. She was an excellent cook, a gracious hostess, a skilled seamstress, an avid reader and an inveterate puller of sticker burrs. She was a determined soul who was able to accomplish hard tasks by “anting it,” as she called it. Cheerful, thankful, uncomplaining, she always concentrated on her many blessings. She laughed easily and often. She was a woman of great faith who lived it every day. In the face of life’s uncertainties, she always said, “God has taken care of me all my life; He’s not going to stop now.” She was dearly loved.

Survivors include her daughter Karen O. Burnup and husband Mickey, of Round Rock, son Michael W. Odell and wife Debbie of Stephenville, grandchildren Julie and Darren Habetz of Houston, James and Kristen Burnup of Pearland, Terri and Kevin Binkley of Wendy Lou Ranch and Glenn and Kristin Odell of Houston and nine great-grandchildren Grace and Claire Habetz, Justin and Riley Burnup, Reed, Sarah and Ryan Odell and John and Hannah Binkley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Franklin Merritt, Jr. and a granddaughter Stacy Anne Odell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
