The Stephenville City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. today at City Hall to hear the Nominations Committee's recommendation for citizen board appointments.
The committee, which is made up of Dr. Malcolm Cross, Russ McDanel and Scott Evans, have drawn up a list of 31 individuals that will be considered to serve on various boards and commissions.
The council will also consider a contract with the Texas Department of Agriculture for water and sewer line repairs in the neighborhoods of Groesbeck and Swan streets. The sewer lines in those areas are deteriorating, requiring frequent maintenance and disruptions in service.
Approximately 2,500 linear feet of six-inch water line, five hydrants, valves and fittings, service reconnections and driveway and pavement repair is expected to be conducted on Groesbeck Street from S. Lillian to First Street and on First Street from Groesbeck to Swan.
The project is scheduled to begin Jan. 12 and completed July 12, 2015.
A public hearing will also be held for a rezoning request for property located in the 900 block of South Second Avenue with the property changing from B-2, retail and commercial business district, to R-3, a multiple family residential district.
The council will vote on the ordinance following the public hearing.
