As we gear up for Thanksgiving and Christmas, residents should be mindful of those who could use a little hope and cheer this holiday season.??The staff at the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce has gathered information from area non-profit organizations about various needs and opportunities to meet those needs.

Be a voice for one of over 170 foster children served annually by Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteers. You can help by becoming a volunteer advocate, giving a voice to a child by donating to our training program, or serving as a board member. Serving the needs of the elderly in Erath County. The holidays bring about travel for route drivers so additional volunteers are needed to drive and deliver food. Monetary donations are always accepted. Start a new family tradition of helping for the holidays: Thanksgiving meal service will be provided by Valley Grove Baptist Church on Sunday, November 23. Call the church office at 965-5195 to sign up. Christmas meal service will be provided by Faith Lutheran Church on Christmas Eve. Apply at H.O.P.E. by Dec. 6. Toys will be distributed Dec. 15 (2:00-4:00 pm) and Dec. 16 (5:30-7:00 pm). Unwrapped toys can be dropped off at Stephenville fire stations now through Dec. 13. Firefighters will collect unwrapped toys outside Walmart on Nov. 30-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-8. There are also two great events on Dec. 7: Bring a new unwrapped toy to the Tarleton Basketball Game for free admission or participate in the Toys for Kids 4 Person Scramble at Legends Country Club. Entry is one $25 unwrapped toy per person and will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a Shotgun Start.
