The December student of the month is fifth grader, Elizabeth Fisher. She has attended Morgan Mill since kindergarten and her favorite subject is math. For the upcoming UIL contest, she will be competing in art, maps, graphs, and charts, spelling, and ready writing. For the MM school Thanksgiving dinner, she made “an all about me” poster, colored a flag, and made a scarecrow. In band, she plays a clarinet. She is making straight A’s and likes to read books written by Beverly Cleary. She likes MM because it is a small school. During the Christmas holidays, she will be going to Granbury to help with a party given for special needs kids. Elizabeth has a 6-year old sister, Abigail in the first grade; an eight year old brother, Jacob in the third grade and fourteen year old Daxon in the eighth grade. She likes to play with her three cats and likes to go shopping with her mom in Ft. Worth and Weatherford. Mom and dad are Laura and James. Congratulations to a well-versed young lady.

The MM school Christmas music program will be Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. The band will be playing all of the traditional songs like “Up on the Housetop” and the K-4th grade choir will be singing the Morgan Mill version of the 12 days of Christmas. Santa always comes to wish the kids a Merry Christmas. Be a part of the tradition small town music program for Christmas.

We want to thank all of the MM school personnel, Tarleton volunteers and MM students for another successful Thanksgiving dinner with the troops from Fort Hood. Even though it was sleeting at lunch time, some of the troops were seen outside playing ball with the kids. If you talked to the troops, you found out that they had come to Texas from every state. Some even thought that Texas weather was not that bad. The common answer that I got when I asked the troops, why they volunteered to come to Morgan Mill? The answer was to be with the kids. Thanks to Dean Edwards for going the extra mile to get the troops here.

Remember the annual ladies Christmas Tea at MM Baptist Church this Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 until 12. Come and relax and forget the holiday rush. It is a great time to get to know your neighbors. Everyone is invited.

MM breakfast is Saturday, Dec. 14, and the annual MM Live Nativity is also Saturday, Dec. 14 at 5:30.
