Stephenville jumped two spots to No. 5 in the Associated Press 3A football poll Monday.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 4-1 with a 64-42 victory over 4A Amarillo Saturday, in a wild game featuring a combined 1,130 yards of offense. Stephenville is 2-1 against 4A teams, one of those, Fort Lauderdale Dillard, a Florida 4A foe.

Previous No. 1 Carthage suffered a loss to 4A No. 5 Whitehouse and fell to No. 6 on the 3A list. Gilmer now tops the poll, followed by No. 2 Argyle. Both are expected to go Division II in the playoffs, with No. 3 Kilgore currently the highest-ranked team expected to go Division I.

Graham is No. 4 after also moving up two spots. Stephenville and Graham benefited from losses by Carthage and previous No. 3 Navasota, which fell to No. 10.

Fairfield upset Navasota in convincing fashion and makes its debut in the poll at No. 8.
