FRISCO — The Tarleton State Texans could snap a three-game losing skid against Abilene Christian as they have built a 21-10 lead at the half Saturday afternoon on a soggy turf at Toyota Stadium.
A 51-yard interception return for a touchdown by Desmond Jackson and a 112-yard first half performance by running back Jerome Regal have been two key factors in the Texans' first-half advantage.
Regal capped the half with a 6-yard touchdown run. The score put a bow on an 11-play, 75-yard Texan drive.
Jackson's 51-yard interception return for a TD came with 1:11 left in the first quarter to put the Texans up 14-0.
TSU's offense racked up 11 first downs, and 192 offensive yards — 107 coming on the ground.
Quarterback Jake Fenske finished the half going 7-of-12 for 85 yards and one touchdown. He hit Bubba Tandy for a 26-yard strike on the Texans' first TD of the game.
ACU did all of its damage in the second quarter, and finished with 194 total offense.
