Henderson Junior High placed third in Weatherford's seventh grade A volleyball tournament Saturday.

The Honeybees came from behind to edge Weatherford Tison 17-25, 25-14, 25-23 in the third-place match. They were there because they defeated Acton 25-12, 25-21 in the opening round before Aledo beat them in the semifinals, 25-18, 25-22.

Aledo also handed HJH its only pool play defeat, 15-8, 15-8. The Bees then won three straight to finish second in the pool. They beat Peaster 20-19, 15-11, knocked off Brewer 15-8. 15-10 and thumped Everman 15-12, 15-10.

Leading HJH in the tournament were Jayci Morton with 25 points, four aces, two kills and two blocks, Jennie Winstead with 23 points and five aces and Hannah Huckabee with 22 points, an ace and a kill.

Chloe Goodman collected 18 points, eight aces and three kills for the Bees, Madelyn Heupel racked up 16 points and Destiny Hale had 12 to go with two kills. Jessica Howell contributed nine points with two aces, Bailey McBee added nine points, an ace and a kill, Mallory McCully registered eight points and two aces and Faith O'Brien had two points, a kill and a block.
