Erath County commissioners got a chance to meet Chris Brooks Monday during their regularly scheduled meeting. Brooks will take over as Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue coordinator in October. He will replace Chris Gable who has been in the position for 10 years and was one of the founding members of the ECVFR.

The court approved extra money the ECVFR requested to fund the training of Brooks before Gable's last day on Monday, Sept. 30. Gable said that while Brooks has served as an officer for the department and knows the ins-and-outs of the system, he feels at least a week of training would benefit Brooks and the department. The court also approved a cell phone allowance for Brooks.

In other business the court approved bids for pest control, HVAC and cleaning services at the county's Dublin annex. They also approved the automatic pay vendors, sole source vendors and the donations general ledger line additions for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

The commissioners set Wednesday, Sept. 25, as the date for the special called meeting to approve the 2013-14 tax rate and budget. The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. in the Judge's Chambers in the Erath County Courthouse.
