Local legend Larry Joe Taylor is once again opening the gates to Melody Mountain Ranch to the music-loving public for the annual Rhymes and Vines festival. The eighth annual event will begin today and last through Saturday.
Melody Mountain Ranch is well-known for its annual LJT Texas Music Festival in the spring, which draws in a crowd of more than 50,000. But Rhymes and Vines is a smaller, more intimate event that draws an estimated 2,500 people to three nights of acoustic Texas country music and a homebrew and wine maker's competition.
Tickets can be purchased by calling 968-8505 or at Barefoot Athletics or Signs & Designs. Three-day tickets are $48 (advanced price) or $55 at the gate; two-day tickets are $32 or $38 at the gate; and one-day tickets are $18 or $22 at the gate.
Like other events at Melody Mountain, attendees are invited to set up shop and stay the weekend with campsites available at the ranch. For those planning to roll in their recreational vehicles, camping pricing is $45 at the gate. Primitive sites, which do not include water and electric connections are $22 per night in advance and $24 at the gate.
