Stephenville FAITH is looking to begin a new win streak after opening its season with two straight losses to UIL opponents.

The reigning Texas Christian Athletic League Division II champion Knights bounced back to win a 66-64 thriller last week over Weatherford Express Homeschool. FAITH’s focus is now on a second straight triumph when the Knights visit Brownwood Victory Life this week.

Junior spread back Shadd Cole amassed 517 yards of offense and nine touchdowns in the win over Express. He rushed for 324 yards and eight scores, passed for 183 yards and a score and caught a 10-yard pass. FAITH’s other big offensive stat line came from Aaron Snyder with four catches for 122 yards. Joey Bruan passed for a TD.

Cole also led the FAITH defense last week with three forced fumbles and 15 tackles, three of them behind the line. FAITH had nine tackles for loss as a team, including a sack and a forced fumble by Snyder. Braun had 12 tackles, Chance Lyons 10, Callum Haromn 10 and Snyder nine.

Victory Life is 1-2 with a 46-0 loss to Tyler Street Christian Academy from Dallas, a 24-6 win over Covenant Classical from Fort Worth and a 51-6 loss to UIL foe Mullin. Both FAITH’s losses are to UIL opponents. The Knights lost 72-26 to Lometa and 50-6 to Gordon, both six-man powers.

Kickoff in Brownwood Friday is set for 7:30 p.m. The Knights return home to Bluff Dale next week to face Willow Park Trinity Christian.
