ABILENE- A memorial to celebrate the life of Nora Fern Black Adkison Necessary who passed into the arms of our Lord after a short battle with cancer will be held on Saturday Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. at New Hope Church, 3122 South Clack Street in Abilene.

Nora was born in Merkel to James Arthur and Lela Pearl Reese Black. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Nora was a kind and gentle soul who made those of us that knew her better for knowing her.  

Nora is survived by her mother Lela Black of Stephenville. Her daughters Lela and Phillip Jackson of Stephenville, and Melissa and Don Beck of Dumas, grandchildren Callie and Keith Jackson of Stephenville, Nora, Tyler and Michael Mixon of Dumas, a brother Johnnie and Pat Black of Abilene, two sisters Elaine and Johnnie Stubbs of Abilene, and Jean and Richard Armstrong of Gustine, ex son-in-law Grady Mixon of Dalhart and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father James Black. Husbands William James Adkison and Velton Necessary.

The family would like to express appreciate to Dr. Mark Reedy and his wonderful staff, Dr. Brian Ganesh, Coronado Nursing Home and Hendricks Hospice nurses and staff for all that you did for our sister Nora.

This world has lost a bright and shining star but heaven has gained one. We will miss and love you forever Nora the Vern.
