Several first responders were recently honored by the Texas Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for their actions during the Hood County tornadoes in May.
Among the recipients was Trey Lee, a Granbury resident, who is a firefighter and paramedic for the Stephenville Fire Department. Lee was at home when the tornadoes touched down and received a text message summoning first responders to the scene.
"The award was for those individuals who played key roles during the Hood County tornadoes," said Fire Chief Jimmy Chew. "The award was given for the entire operation over there."
Lee's acts during first responding consisted of being involved with the triage at the American Legion. He was one of many from various departments who treated injured patients before they were relocated to hospitals.
Lee was one of 25 individuals who received the award.
