SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Tarleton State Women's Golf team combined to shoot an eight-over-par (296) on Tuesday to finish in a tie for third place at the Concho River Classic held at Bentwood Country Club in San Angelo.
The TexAnns carded a score 11 strokes better than Monday's opening round (+19, 307) to finish at +27 (307-296=603), but Tarleton came up seven shots behind St. Edward's who won the event with a two-day score of +20 (300-296=596).
The TexAnns finished in a tie for third place with Cameron (+27, 299-304=603) and were just five shots behind Newman, who finished in second place with a two-day total of +22 (301-297=598).
Sophomore Isabell Jimenez-Perea carded another +1 (73) on Tuesday and finished in a tie for fifth place at +2 (73-73=146). West Texas A&M's Glory Jangthongsiri, who led the tournament after Monday's score of -5 (67), came away with the individual championship after finishing at -3 (67-74=141).
Freshman Beatriz Prados fired a second round score of +3 (75) to finish in a tie for seventh place with her two-day score of +4 (73-75=148). Junior Marea Durie, who played individually for the TexAnns this week, finished in a tie for 14th place and led all individual players with a two-day score of +7 (151) after carding a round of +1 (73) on Tuesday.
Both Sharon Lau and Jessica Pickwick carded rounds of +2 (74) in the final round after scoring over 80 on Monday. Lau finished the tournament in a tie for 20th place with a score of +10 (80-74=154) and Pickwick came in a tie for 22nd place with her two-day score of +11 981-74=155).
Sophomore Whitney Uselton rounded out Tarleton's team players with a two-day total of +28 (86-86=172) and finishing in 55th place.
The TexAnns will have nearly an entire month before returning to action next as the team will not play until Oct. 14-15 at the Dallas Baptist Golf Classic. The event will be held at the Golf Club of Dallas.
