The Stephenville City Council voted to raise the 2013-2104 fiscal year tax rate Tuesday evening to $.4950, up $.01 from last years rate of $.4850. 

The vote finished five to four, with Malcolm Cross, Brady Pendleton, Alan Nix, Martha Taylor and Scott Evans voting in favor of the increase. Casey Hogan, Doug Svien, Russ McDanel and Mayor Kenny Weldon voted against the increased rate. 

Through out the process multiple members of the community spoke in public forum over the past weeks with more than 15 speaking in favor of maintaining the current rate and one speaking in favor of an increase.
