Tarleton State limited Midwestern State to its lowest rushing total in almost four years in the Lone Star Football Festival Saturday. Marc Martinez was a big reason why.

Martinez, a senior linebacker from Waco Midway, made 13 tackles for the Texans, seven of them unassisted. He also had a tackle for loss and forced a fumble to help hold the Mustangs to just 79 yards on the ground after they averaged 323.9 per game last year. All-American running back Keidrick Jackson had just 46 yards on 17 carries after rushing for 1,382 in 2012.

Martinez and the Texans upset Midwestern 27-24 at AT&T Stadium. Tarleton visits Angelo State at 7 p.m. Saturday in San Angelo.
