The Dublin Senior Citizens Center is the hub for a multitude of community activities, for those older and younger than 65. The center serves as the meeting location for Girls Scouts, 4H, the Red Hat Divas and the American Legion. In addition, it is common for the facility to be booked on a regular basis for reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries, baby showers, and other family events.
But the center is best known as the place for seniors in the Dublin area to gather for food, fun, and fellowship. It is a full schedule every single week.
“We have chair exercise four times a week for anyone that would like to attend. We have our potluck lunches on Wednesdays and games afterwards,” said Linda Ake, president of the Dublin Senior Citizens.
The center is open 8:30-11 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for exercise classes, plus time to drink coffee and visit.
Even more activities are planned for the future of the Dublin Senior Citizen Center. In just a few weeks, the Center will become the distribution point for Meals on Wheels in Dublin. Although dances have not been held recently at the center, Ake said a dance is planned for October and she hopes all area seniors will plan to come out and enjoy the music.
