The Stephenville City Council will be divided no more come Tuesday. The vote on the tax rate that has divided the council with four members supporting a proposed tax rate, which is $.4950, and the other four against the tax increase will take place Tuesday evening.

The council has already passed the budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year and an amendment was passed that included budget cuts that would eliminate the need for a tax increase. The vote for the amendment was tied when Mayor Kenny Weldon broke the tie with a vote in favor of the amendment.

The council has held two public hearings on the tax rate and 14 people have spoken against the proposed increase.

The final vote on the matter will take place at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
