The Hico Tigers held off the Hamilton Bulldogs at Tiger Stadium to reclaim the rights to the Hamilton County Championship trophy.

The Tigers looked to be in control all game as they took a 20-0 lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter. However, Hamilton wouldn't lie down and quarterback Adam Beckner and Riley Reich hooked up for two quick touchdown passes to make it 20-14 with a little less than half of the quarter left to play.

Hamilton did get one last possession with 1:44 remaining in the contest, however, the Bulldogs could not take advantage and turned the ball over on downs granting Hico the ball and the win.

Hico dominated the ground game rushing the ball 46 times for a total of 292 yards. They were led on the ground by junior Duane Hyles, who recorded 91 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown. Senior Cade Hitzfeld had the best all-purpose game for the Tigers, putting up 88 yards on the ground on four carries including a 67 yard scamper, and recording a 27-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Hunter Wood.

The score should reflect a great game to watch, however it was littered with penalties by both sides. The teams combined for 23 penalties for 223 total yards. Hico had 12 fouls for 118 yards and Hamilton had 11 flags for 105 yards.

Hico improved to 3-0 on the season with the win Friday night and will be looking forward to homecoming this week against Palmer at Tiger Stadium.
