Stephenville made a strong showing at the Hico Cross Country Meet Wednesday, with the Yellow Jackets taking first place and the Honeybees finishing second in the team standings at Bluebonnet Country Club.

Hico also had a strong individual showing from Kelsey Warren, who captured an individual title, while Dublin picked up a fourth place finish on the boys side from Isaac Campos.

Leading Stephenville's victorious boys team was Brady Cupps with a fourth-place finish (among team runners) in 19 minutes, 45 seconds. He had plenty of company from his teammates, as Riley Forehand was four seconds back in fifth, and Michael Fick came in 18 seconds behind Forehand in sixth.

Renato Rios also cracked the top 10, finishing ninth for the Jackets, while Santi Gallego rounded out their scoring in 12th. Even the runners not in Stephenville's top five were impressive, with Brandon Dark and Lupe Espinoza coming in 21st and 22nd, respectively.

The Honeybees' second-place effort was paced by Ashtin Ivey, who took fifth. The senior who placed 13th at regionals last year covered the shorter girls course in 13:55.

Kalee Wright was ninth for Stephenville, Monika Perez was 14th, Peyton Wood 17th and Hannah Mabry 18th. Not scoring but finishing well was Lariatt Larnier in 23rd and Indra Garcia in 30th.

Stephenville was first in junior varsity girls, led by Shelby Wood in third overall. The JV Jackets finished second, led by third-place Garrett Cole.

Stephenville runs again next Wednesday in the Glen Rose Invitational at Dinosaur Valley State Park.
