Dublin took care of business Friday night at Memorial Stadium, defeating Millsap 17-0 in its home opener.
The Lions' first points of the night came from a 25-yard field goal from junior Isaac Campos late in the second quarter, as Dublin took to the dressing room with only a three point lead.
Junior Brady Holleman led the Lions in passing, going 12-27 for 183 yards. He also rushed for 44 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown. Holleman's favorite target was Zoey Kendall, a sophomore, who had six receptions for 107 yards. Senior Dirk DeVries led Dubin in rushing with 48 yards on eight carries.
Dublin struggled to continue drives that had already resulted in several first downs because of turnovers and penalties. The Lions were called for 10 flags and committed three turnovers, including an interception in the red zone.
A big positive for Dublin was its defense. They constantly held Millsap to fourth and longs and dominated the Bulldog receivers in the secondary while the pass rush generated six sacks.
Dublin visits 2-0 Santo next Friday.
