DALLAS (AP) — Investigators say a man shot by officers Friday night following a police chase in Dallas was the chief suspect in a slaying in a suburb that morning.
The Dallas Morning News reported (http://bit.ly/18D5gMp ) Saturday that Domingo Soto was killed in a confrontation with police in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood of southeast Dallas.
It wasn't clear if the fatal shot was fired by police or self-inflicted.
Soto is suspected of shooting William Chapman at a convenience store in Garland, northeast of Dallas, Friday morning.
Chapman was dating Soto's ex-girlfriend and police believe Soto may have been stalking him.
Authorities began following a pickup carrying Soto in connection with the Garland slaying Friday evening.
An officer opened fire when Soto appeared to reach for his waistband, fearing he could have a gun.
