The Cross Timbers Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will host its annual fall banquet at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at City Hall at City Limits.

Chairman Wes Powell said the organization has lots of fun planned for the event which will raise money to continue conservation efforts.

"We'll have a silent and live auctions as well as a raffle drawing," Powell said. "The money we raise through fundraisers like this benefit efforts of the main organization."

The 76-year-old organization, which claims to be the world leader in wetland and waterfowl conservation, has chapters across the state and country.

Powell said there will be lots of great items up for auction this year including a number of guns, hunting trips, art work, jewelry, hunting gear and much more.

There will also be a raffle, with pre-sale tickets available now at Star Arms and Richards Jewelry for $5 each or five for $20. The raffle drawings will award winners a Browning A5 12-gauge shotgun, a Ruger SR40 compact pistol and a 65-quart Yeti cooler with the Ducks Unlimited logo.

Make sure to come to the banquet hungry, Powell said. The organization is planning a steak dinner for attendees with salad, bread, sides and dessert. Advance tickets are available for $40 for singles or $60 for a couple. 'Greenwings' (kids 16 and under) tickets are $20. Tickets purchased at the door are $10 higher.

"We are looking forward to having a good time at this event and hope the community will come out and support us," Powell said.
