St. Mary's (2-2) had four double-digit scoring efforts and limited Tarleton State (2-2) to 35.3 percent shooting in a 77-56 defeat of the TexAnns at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio Wednesday night.
Kiara Wright posted her third double-double of the young season with 17 points and 10 rebounds for Tarleton, but it wasn't enough with the TexAnns being outscored 42-26 in the paint, 21-12 off turnovers and 8-0 on the fast break.
Felicia Jacobs poured in 17 for St. Mary's, and received plenty of help from her friends. Jackie Woods scored 14, including five points and an assist during an 11-0 Lady Rattler run for a 32-16 lead with 3:53 to go in the half. Lia Kioa and Morgan Pullins each netted 13 and Bria Bell had eight points and 10 boards.
Bell scored the first four points of the second half as St. Mary's poured in seven of the first nine, stretching a 36-22 lead at the break to 43-24 with 15:50 left.
Tarleton got not closer than 15 the rest of the way, and St. Mary's lead grew to 74-50 with 2:10 to go.
Peyton Adamson scored 11 for Tarleton, which also picked up six points each from Shanae Lowrance, Lindsey Mann and Erin Simms.
The TexAnns look to bounce back quickly with Lone Star Conference play opening this weekend. They visit Texas Woman's in Denton at 2 p.m. Saturday.
