Election Day has finally arrived and with it comes relief to voters - but angst to those on the ballot.
Mary Beach McGuire is running for Place 5 on the Stephenville City Council against Brady Pendleton.
This is McGuire's third time to run for a spot on the city council - and she is hoping it's going to be the lucky charm she needs to win.
"I feel confident," McGuire said Monday. "I am definitely excited and I am trying to stay positive. I just hope the voters of Stephenville get out to vote if they haven't already done so."
McGuire said she plans to eat enchiladas at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Tuesday afternoon and catch part of Tuesday's city council meeting before heading to the courthouse for election returns.
"Hopefully, I will be working for the citizens of Stephenville after (tonight)," McGuire said.
Pendleton, however, is hoping for a very different result.
This is Pendleton's first run for public office.
He said Monday that he is excited, but slightly nervous as the end gets closer.
"I feel good," Pendleton said. "I know I've worked hard and done everything I needed to do. Now, we just have to wait and see what happens."
Pendleton will join his friends and supporters about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fuzzy's Taco Shop before heading to the courthouse for election returns.
