Stephenville ISD administration and board of trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday in a regularly scheduled meeting.

Items on the agenda include proclamations to acknowledge the achievements of two SISD instructors. Wade Whitehead of Chamberlin Elementary will be recognized for his implementation of the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart. It is an event he has spearheaded since 1999 and has garnered over $160,000 for AHA. Also to be honored is Mike Carroll of Stephenville High School who will be given the Korey Stringer Award. Stringer was a Minnesota Viking player who died of heat stroke in 2001. Carroll was a member of a task force who proposed guidelines to lessen the chance of heat stroke among high school athletes through a safer method of acclimation to extreme temperatures while training for the upcoming football season.

Business aspects of the agenda include a report by Assistant Superintendent Debbie Hummel who will outline the monthly financials for the August 2012 cash-investments report and the post-closing report for all funds. The date for the audit committee review of the 2011-12 audit of the previous school yearís budget will be set.

Dr. Kathy Ray will present notes regarding committees to be assigned for review of attendance, site-based decisions and school health advisory.

Also up for discussion is the possibility of class size waivers which may be submitted if necessary.

Dr. Darrell Floyd will give the superintendentís report related to SISD student enrollment numbers, the employee directory, information pertaining to the school board convention slated for the end of the month and details pertaining to the Oct. 7 groundbreaking ceremonies for two campus construction projects. The event will take place at Central Elementary at 2 p.m. and at Chamberlin Elementary at 3 p.m.

Comments from the community are welcome but limited to five minutes for each entity wishing to express an opinion. Only 30 minutes will be allotted to the entire period of citizenry input. Those wishing to address the board must sign in on the open forum list no later than 5:30 p.m. Monday.
