The Erath County Livestock Association is gearing up for the 43rd Annual Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo to be held Sept. 28-30 at Lone Star Arena. New to this year’s activities will be a Miss and Jr. Miss Cowboy Capital of the World Rodeo Queen Contest.

The organization is looking for young ladies with the desire to promote the official sport of Texas Rodeo. The title winners will represent the Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo throughout the rodeo weekend and will be awarded a trophy buckle, crown and banner.

The contest is open to Erath County students 12 -18 years of age as of Sept. 1, 2012 (15-18 for Miss, 12-14 for Jr. Miss). Contestants will be judged on a written essay about rodeo, horsemanship, interview, appearance and ticket sales. The horsemanship and interview portion of the competition will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. at Lone Star Arena. Coronation ceremonies will be performed during the Friday night rodeo performance.

Application packets and entry forms may be picked up at Capital Hatters, Hard 8 BBQ and Stephenville Chamber of Commerce. All entries must be returned to the Chamber office by Monday, Sept. 17.
