Sept. 11, 2001 is a day Americans will never forget.
To commemorate the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people, the community is invited to participate in a brief ceremony and moment of silence beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the flagpole at the Erath County Courthouse.
"The purpose of this event is to keep the events of 9/11 in people's minds," said Fire Chief Jimmy Chew.
Stephenville Mayor Kenny Weldon is also expected to say a few words.
"I am really proud that we are coming together as a community to not only remember those who died that day, but to remember the freedoms we have and to recognize that our country changed that day," Weldon said. "It's important for our youth to remember the significance of that day in our history."
