They play Class 1A 11-man football in Hico, but one of the biggest days in six-man high school football will be on tap again Saturday at the 9th Annual Hico Super Six-Man Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
The unique event brings hundreds of out-of-town visitors to Hico throughout the day and will feature eight of the top small school six-man football teams in the state in four consecutive games played on one field beginning at 11 a.m.
Headlining the special guests throughout the day are Pro Football Hall of Famer and Cowboys legend Rayfield “Big Cat" Wright from noon to 2 p.m., Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Mia Greenhouse and Amelia Bren, Dallas Cowboys great and Super Bowl winner Burton Lawless, famed Elvis impersonator Johnny Rockit and many other fun attractions and activities.
Gordon faces Ira at 11 a.m., Abbott meets Dallas Covenant at 1 p.m., Strawn battles Walnut Springs at 3 p.m. and Valley takes on Jonesboro at 5 p.m. One ticket gets you admission to all four games.
Texas Monthly termed the event “The biggest day for the smallest schools.”
Dozens of local volunteers and corporate sponsors put the event on each year. Proceeds benefit Hico ISD athletic and academic programs.
