Stephenville (6-11) was the only 3A school competing in the loaded Fraulein Volleyfest in New Braunfels last weekend and went 3-6 over three days of play.

In Saturday's bronze bracket, the Honeybees defeated 5A Round Rock Stony Point 25-21, 25-20 before falling to 4A Cedar Park Vista Ridge 13-25, 24-26, and 4A Corpus Christi Calallen 23-25, 25-27.

"I think we were the only 3A team there," said Stephenville head coach Fran Metzger, whose club has faced just one 3A opponent - Abilene Wylie twice - this fall. "It was tough."

Stephenville had already defeated 5A McAllen and Lubbock Coronado in pool play in New Braunfels Thursday and Friday, and fell to 5A Austin Westlake, Amarillo Tascosa, Austin High and Northside (San Antonio) O'Connor.

The road gets no easier - or lighter on teams from larger schools - tonight. The Honeybees face 4A power Aledo and 5A Weatherford in a dual-match at Aledo High School. Sub-varsity play begins at 5 p.m.
